Whole Person Coaching® is a coaching style developed by Feroshia Knight, MA, MCC who is a CHANGE MASTER!
This style of coaching blends Interpersonal Neurobiology (Daniel J. Siegel, M.D.), Positive Psychology (Martin Seligman), Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP, Richard Bandler and John Grinder), Narrative Psychology (Theodore R. Sarbin), Emotional Intelligence (Daniel Goleman) ,and more.
In his book “The Body Keeps the Score”, Bessel van der Kolk, MD discusses how the human body can get stuck in fight/flight, and freeze. This can happen because of any number of events. And for real change to take place so that we can move FORWARD, the body needs to learn that the danger has passed and to live in the reality of the present. I create an environment where clients can feel safe to inhabit their bodies and to tolerate feeling what they feel – this can lead to lasting healing and FORWARD movement.
Neuroplasticity – Current science shows us our brains are neuroplastic —they can change in response to experience. And an amazing environment for those changes to take place is in a nonjudgmental, agenda-less presence.
Trauma – The American Psychological Association (APA) defines trauma as “any disturbing experience that results in significant fear, helplessness, dissociation, confusion, or other disruptive feelings intense enough to have a long-lasting negative effect on a person’s attitudes, behavior, and other aspects of functioning. I would go a step further and say that this is an embodied state that the the body/mind/spirit continues to hold on to until it is addressed.
